A secure data room for a world-renowned London university

The new construction & installation enabled the university to protect servers and sensitive electronic information from forced entry, fire and weather damage.

The installation, which formed part of a significant investment by the university in security, is situated in a former underground car park.

Designing a secure, bespoke data room to accommodate existing structures

Securiclad was engaged by the university’s design consultant to provide a secure data room that was required to withstand attempts at forced entry, but also needed to be weather resistant and durable.

There was also a further structural challenge to overcome the space and height restrictions created by the underground site. Securiclad therefore provided bespoke panels offsite to accommodate the sloping roof, once installed.

In addition, delivery and installation were time critical, as the room needed to be completed before mechanical and electrical contractors finalised their phase of the project – any delay would have hindered delivery of the final completion date.

Bespoke manufacturing, quick installation

By manufacturing a bespoke system for the university and supplying pre-finished panels (therefore negating the need for wet trade requirements), Securiclad was able to keep installation time to a minimum, allowing the project to be completed on schedule and to the time requirements of other contractors.

It also provided consultation, technical expertise and advice at the design stage, and the installation was undertaken by trained and certified contractors fully conversant with the product and predetermined parameters for compliance.
